HITLER VICTIM WOMAN COMPLETES PHD AGED 102

Mark Twain said “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it does not matter.” She didn’t mind her age and got awarded the doctorate at an age which would have mattered, a lot. At 102 years of age Ingeborg Rapoport(then Syllm) has successfully acquired doctorate in Pediatrics and astonished the whole world.
Daughter of a Jewish pianist, she was forbidden to enter her final oral exams by Adolf Hitler’s anti-Semitic race laws in Germany. But she has managed to get a doctorate on Tuesday, 9 June 2015 after nearly 8 decades. This has made her the oldest person to be awarded with a PhD in the World. She was interviewed for the Doctorate on May 2015, in which she was asked questions about the Diptheria in children.
After receiving her doctorate from the Hamburg University, Germany she told to the reporters that it was a dream come true for her but she had no desires to become the record holder. All she wanted was to show the world, the oppression of the then Nazi Germany. “It was about the principle,” she said. “I didn’t want to defend my thesis for my own sake. After all, at the age of 102 all of this wasn’t exactly easy for me. I did it for the victims [of the Nazis].”
She told that she suffered a lot during the Nazi rule in Germany and now 80 years later she has finally found Justice.
In 1938 she was denied by the Nazis to defend her PhD thesis on Diptheria , a major health problem in children at that time.
Now, she is a Neonatologist and lives in Berlin, Germany. She also became the first person in Europe to hold a chair in neonatal medicine.
